The end of another chapter

Well, not officially yet, to be exact. But once again I must stress upon how time flies by when you’re paying it the least attention. I was barely aware of the passage of time last semester, merely intent upon my work and letting the days tick by. To be short, I was really oblivious, and hey presto, I’m at the middle of the semester, and suddenly that said semester is now over. This year has been especially hectic for me. Work and work and work. Kinda literally no play at all. Well I had my breaks and good times, but mostly it has been a tiring year so far. At times when I’m having a homework-free day, my thoughts wander involuntarily to my work at home.

I’m glad that I’m graduating soon. I feel excited to actually work and gain some good experience. Since I’ve never worked before. Seriously.

Visited KLCC with Hwee Lynn today. I think that the pianos are marvelous-and pricey. But to hear the melody from the keys are pretty rewarding, don’t you think? And crowded book fair was crowded. I can barely take a step back without treading on another person’s foot. All in all, not a favorite place to hang around at. It was reminiscent of the PC Fair-which was just as huge and stuffy. Things are definitely overpriced here-particularly books. I believe that one of the reasons people here don’t read much is due to the incredibly high prices of books. The taxes imposed upon them is quite unbelievable! I can only ogle at other countries as their books are affordable there…

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam airs tonight. Well Hwee Lynn and Victoria are watching, haha. Anyone else tuned to the Disney Channel tonight?

On another hand, Kuroshitsuji 2 ends in 2 more episodes. Don’t ask me how I figured it out; I simply happen to remember irrelevant things, my bad. (: I haven’t been keeping up with this season apart from skimming through discussions and reading the key events-some which transpired to be truly odd, amusing, disturbing and full of fanservice. Everyone’s into fanservice nowadays, just ask the people of Twilight. Jacob Black can take off his shirt and Edward can uh… (?) to boost ratings.

My semester starts again tomorrow. Lets hope the workload doesn’t increase further than last semester.

On a parting note, Dexter is awesome.

Dreams can really make you crazy overnight.

I knew I had a dream about going to the dentist for a regular checkup. And worst of all, the ‘dentist’ isn’t my assigned one.

It was either Criss Angel or Cyril Takayama. Oh, come on. I’m obviously mortified. Illusionists aren’t supposed to be anywhere near your teeth. I just saw them both on TV last night. And all I got was this dream. Did I mention that it was almost impossible to get a decent picture of Criss Angel through the web? Try it and you get what I mean. But with caution.

Take him, Cindi, and be done with it. Lol.

Take him, Cindi, and be done with it. Lol.

Oh, no.

Oh, no.

Anyway, I think it was Criss Angel.

FML.

On the other hand, I was told that I’m up next on the waiting list! 8D Why do I feel like I have purchased something just as sacred and holy, like a Louis Vuitton bag that it requires people to prebook beforehand.

Lemon Meringue Pie

Yes, so I have minimal or absolutely no self confidence in myself. Deal with it. :| It sucks having to face that every time; the sensation is oddly sour and warm. Or that could be just me being silly. But yes, there is a feeling that accompanies this sordid thought, sadly. I have a sad life, so there.

Or not. Because I shouldn’t be so pessimistic, right? But wait. Having being negative my entire life it’s pretty hard to stop now.

Tch. Sarcasm.

Better buck up now, or never I suppose. Unless I want to keep living in a dream world of my own. Go figure.

Sigh. If only it was that easy.

Sigh. If only it was that easy.

You mean, there’s Book Four?

Just when you thought it ends at Book Three.

Just when you thought it ends at Book Three.

When Christopher Paolini mentioned Inheritance Trilogy, you would have thought that his books end in three volumes. I haven’t read Brisingr yet, but I sure hope that the upcoming installment isn’t just any excuse to whip up a money spinner. Because it’s going to be like a few movies that seemed to carry on with poorly done sequels after a superb movie. Strange, eh?

And yes, Twilight. I noticed that WordPress likes to link your blog to other WordPress blogs if your content is similar. So I was checking it and discovered that I was linked to this Twilight-related blog. Hmm. I still remember the day when I saw Twilight on the bookshelves in Kinokuniya and wondered if I should get it. A week later I realized that all such plans have to wait. Ditto with other bookstores. I mean, just how fantastic is this book? Not even Harry Potter stretched to this extent. I combed (practically) all the bookstores in KL until the humble Times gave me the UK version of the book.

I have never read a vampire novel before (but watched a few scary and weird vamp movies to boot) so I had no idea what are my expectations of such books. The first book went by okay. Second was quite annoying (because Jacob was bugging the non-Edward space with his werewolf pals) and the third was okay, but the fourth was disappointing. We want to see some unhappy endings, y’all. Yesterday Kimm and I were having this Twilight-fueled rant.

Here’s part of the gist of what we were talking about.

Uh-huh. And there is also:

Sorry, but it’s true! In a funny and weird sense. Somewhere along the way, I kind of lost the thrill. Owe that to the solar-powered, Vegas neon billboard that is Edward. The idea that vampires sparkle is quite hilarious, don’t you think? He’s bling by his own. Rappers like 50 Cent will be so proud.

If you want to read a blunt-but-has-a-point review of the books, you can try this one. It made me laugh, and judging by that, it’s probably true.

I know. I is having fun with Photoshop

(:

Hits and misses

I finally, finally get to watch Hellboy II last night. After that I searched high and low for my ticket stub only to realize that I must’ve misplaced it. Crap. I collect them, like a memento of every movie I’ve ever seen. I still have my stubs of National Treasure, Pirates 1, 2 and even The Incredibles! Some of the words have faded though; you have to see them against the light. And what do I think of the film?

Acting: 6/10

It wasn’t that impressive like There Will Be Blood or some heart wrenching movie. Because there aren’t any kind of scenes like that. You don’t really need to push the limits, but for the artists, yes I guess. But Ron Pearlman was good enough to make me laugh, irritate, and make you feel for him in a very different kind of way. You understand Hellboy’s character easily enough just by watching the film. He and Abe provides the humor relief… simply because they’re naturally funny.

Cinematography: 8/10

We’re talking Pan’s Labyrinth here. This is Guillermo del Toro directing. So you get awesome sets and gorgeous scenery, of course.

Art direction: 8/10

Super. As in the costumes. They’re stunning, detailed in every sense! I’m blown away by the elegance of it all. Sammy Sheldon is just visionary, like Guillermo as well. Just watch the movie, and see all those freaky monsters, and you’ll get my message. Pay attention to the Angel of Death, aka Jason’s beloved and the sinister, sweeping thing with eyes on its wings. It’s creepy, and it’s 9 feet tall. I don’t know anything freakier than that. Do you know that it’s actually androgynous? (:

Hellboy kind of hit and missed in a few categories. Music-wise, it wasn’t bad, with Danny Elfman.

I miss Ethan. Geez, Skype can only do so much.

Jason, where are you?

Meanwhile, I’ve got a gorgeous book to keep me sane from college.

Ta-da! My one year long wait is finally over. MPH actually called me to confirm if I really want it because someone else was eyeing it too!

me: guiehfkjdfu I want to reserve it.

Phew.

Catching ideas as they pass by

I want to buy all the books and make a library. I'm not taken, but maybe my soul is.
